Social Interactions and Relationships |
Social Interactions and Relationships is a most common field in which the problem of autism can be detected. Autism can be defined as a disease in which the brain development is not normal. The researchers have detected some causes in autism but, it cannot be cured; or it should be said in this way that complete curing treatment is still unavailable to the researchers but we can hope of some treatment in near future. Though it is not so common but there is a chance of getting affected, which is 12 in 10000 people. Boys are prone to be affected with autism than the girls. Mostly, the autism symptoms are visible within the 3 years of age, though it the symptoms becomes visible within some months of birth. At such tender age, it is obvious that the behavioral abnormalities portray autism in children.
Autistic children show difficulty in Social Interactions and Relationships with either their peer groups or with the elders. Though the extent of getting affected with autism differs from one child to the other or as it can be affected among older people also, from one person to the other; there are some common areas in which they show significant abnormality. Social Interactions and Relationships is one such common area.
Children with autism face difficulty in performing the non verbal skills in communication as for example, they fail to achieve eye to eye gazing, have different body postures than normal children and also cannot express anything through facial expression or sometimes, face difficulty in expressing them. As a result, they cannot make friends and often remain isolated. They are simply not able to maintain friendships with the peer groups or even in establishing them.
These children show lack of interest in almost everything and have a tendency to do repetitive actions. They do not like very much to share their joys, enjoyments with other people and also do not want to share their interest and achievements with others. As they lack empathy, these children fail to understand the feelings of other persons, whether they are in sorrow or pain. So, they cannot match their mentality with their peers as a result of which they become isolated and also become center of attention everywhere. They can easily be recognized among a group of people.
Some behavioral therapies are employed to treat autistic children who face difficulty in establishing and maintaining Social Interactions and Relationships. However, if they are taken proper care and under proper medication, they are able to live independently and carry out activities according to their interest.
